9 Helpful Hints on Selling Your Home

Here at the Karens Blevins Group, we make it a point to assist all of our clients with the tools to prepare your home to SELL! With our expertise and extensive knowledge of the market, listing your home with us is the best way to set your home up for success.

1. The Best Impression is the First Impression

Don’t underestimate the exterior appearance of your home. A well manicured lawn, trimmed shrubs and trees allowing a view of the front of your home, attractive front landscaping with some seasonal color and a pretty door or entrance way gives your home curb appeal.

2. Less is More

Rooms with more open space than furnishings increases the appeal and may add value. This includes closets, cupboards, attics and garages. Remove excess furniture and clutter. Let your Realtor make suggestions for staging your home.

3. Update before Listing

Styles and tastes change as time passes. Let your Realtor help you decide what updating may increase the appeal (and value) of your house before putting it on the market.

4. Let the Sun in

Open the shutters or blinds, clean the windows, replace all burned out bulbs. Turn on all lights. Light adds warmth and color. Let the buyers see how bright your house really is.

5. Sparkling Kitchens & Bathrooms

Declutter and shine cupboards and countertops. Repair caulking around tubs and showers. Display mats and towels in an attractive manner. Remove old or worn mats/towels.

6. Sound Effects

Televisions are here to stay but turn them off for showings. If background music is on, keep the volume low and the music soothing.

7. Think about Your Pets

They are great companions for their owners but they may not appeal to buyers. It is best to keep them out of the way.

8. Stay Quick on your Feet & Avoid a Crowd

Buyers do not always plan far ahead. Be ready for showings when the buyers are. Leave the property when it’s being shown.

9. Knowledge & Experience Win

Choose an experienced Realtor familiar with the neighborhood. Ask them for suggestions about getting your house sold (price, staging and updating). Take their suggestions seriously.
